Galvanized steel in coils

Galvanizing and hot-dip galvanizing are two techniques for protecting steel against corrosion and weather conditions. The use of these technologies allows for obtaining significantly different results and thus product parameters.

Electroplating – the common name of electroplating, i.e. electrolytic methods of producing coatings on various materials, i.e. the practical implementation of permanently adhering thin metallic coatings by depositing one metal on another (e.g. chrome plating, zinc plating, tin plating, cadmium plating, copper plating, nickel plating, gold plating). It is a process that uses electrochemical phenomena that accompany the flow of current between the electrodes placed in the galvanic bath.

Electrolytically galvanized sheet is used in electrical applications. It is characterized by a smooth surface and good conductivity. It is a sheet with high flexibility and adhesion after bending.

Hot-dip galvanizing consists in immersing steel in a bath of liquid zinc. Zinc flows around the panel, reaching hard to reach places, thus creating a coating, a protective layer with a thickness of 70 to 150 micrometers. It is the most durable technique, but less aesthetic due to the nubs and thickening formed during the solidification of the zinc.

Thanks to the possibility of our partners, we can prepare coils, sheets and strips of galvanized sheets according to a specific specification, even if the dimensions are not included in the assortment tables.

For more details on our offer for the supply of galvanized steel coils, please contact our sales department.

Stainless steel or galvanized?

Stainless steel is a noble material in most cathode connections, while zinc and galvanized steel are lower in the voltage range of metals – in combination with stainless steel it has a more anodic character. If stainless steel and galvanized steel are combined and the electric circuit is closed by an electrolyte (rainwater, a layer of moisture, sea water), corrosion of the more anodic material, i.e. galvanized steel, may occur.
